Identity Verification (KYC) for Virtual Cards
To create virtual cards, you need to verify your identity. This is required by financial regulations and helps keep everyone safe.
What is KYC?
KYC stands for "Know Your Customer." It's a standard process used by financial services worldwide to verify that you are who you say you are. Pays Wallet uses SumSub, a trusted and secure identity verification provider, to handle this process.
How to Complete KYC
- Tap the card icon in the wallet header and start the card onboarding flow.
- When you reach the KYC step, you'll be guided through the SumSub verification process.
- You'll need to:
- Upload a photo of a valid government-issued ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID card).
- Take a live selfie for facial matching.
- Provide basic personal information.
- Submit your verification and wait for review.
How Long Does It Take?
Most verifications are completed within a few minutes. In some cases, manual review may be required and can take up to 24 hours. You'll be notified once your verification is complete.
KYC Status
You can check your KYC status on the Settings tab. It will show one of these badges:
- Verified — You're all set. You can create and use virtual cards.
- Pending — Your documents are being reviewed. Hang tight.
- Rejected — There was an issue with your verification. See below for next steps.
What If My KYC Is Rejected?
Common reasons for rejection:
- Blurry or unreadable ID photo. Retake the photo in good lighting, making sure all text and the photo on your ID are clearly visible.
- ID doesn't match selfie. Make sure the selfie is taken in the same session and clearly shows your face.
- Expired ID. Use a current, non-expired government-issued ID.
- Unsupported document type. Make sure you're using a passport, driver's license, or national ID.
If rejected, you can retry the verification from the Cards screen. Make sure to address whatever issue caused the rejection before resubmitting.
Phone Verification
As part of the card setup, you'll also need to verify your phone number:
- Enter your phone number.
- You'll receive a one-time code (OTP) via SMS.
- Enter the code in the app to verify.
This adds an extra layer of security to your card account.
Privacy & Security
Your identity documents are processed securely by SumSub and are handled in compliance with data protection regulations. Pays Wallet does not store your raw identity documents.
